Top 10 Warm Essential Oils + Cozy DIY Recipes - Aromatics International

Warm essential oils can stimulate your body’s energy. You might even notice your skin looks red after applying a warm essential oil. That’s because the essential oil is summoning your body’s resources to the area where you’ve applied it, stimulating poor circulation and warming you up during cold weather.

Safely used at the recommended dilution, warming essential oils can feel ultra-comforting to cool, puffy areas that are tender to the touch. That’s why warming essential oils are often used in blends to support the body after minor injuries.

Warm essential oils can help you feel cozy.

Use warming oils if you feel chilly at your desk, if your feet always seem to be cold, or any time the temperature takes a dip and it’s time to bring out some extra blankets!

Emotionally, most warm essential oils inspire energy and confidence—as well as a deep sense of security, as though all is well with the world. This security can give you the courage to speak your mind, open your heart, and try new things. Warm oils bring out your sense of adventure!

But several warm essential oils are actually calming. They allow you to release stress and tense knots of energy, so relaxation feels more restorative.

Top 10 warming essential oils

Here’s our list of the Top 10 Warm Essential Oils, and a little about each one to help you decide which to use.

1. Black Pepper Oil (Piper nigrum)

Fresh and peppery, black pepper essential oil helps focus your mind so you feel more productive and confident in your skills. Black pepper oil is a great choice if you sit at a desk, near air conditioning or during colder months, where lack of movement can make you feel chilly.

2. Cinnamon Bark Oil (Cinnamomum zeylanicum)

Cinnamon oil is a must-have when it’s time to get cozy, especially in cold season: cinnamon bark essential oil helps build strong immunity! It’s also very potent. Stick with a low drop count to protect sensitive skin and your mucous membranes.

3. Cardamom Oil (Elettaria cardamomum)

If your digestion is affected by the cold, reach for warm, belly-friendly cardamom essential oil! The perfect combination of sweet and spicy, cardamom essential oil may soothe your belly after a big meal, or if you’re feeling bloated or queasy.

4. Clove Bud Oil (Eugenia caryophyllata)

Clove bud oil comforts muscles and joints that sometimes feel sore in the winter season. It’s also a powerful ally for immune support! Like cinnamon bark, this spice oil should be used sparingly to protect your skin and mucous membranes from irritation.

5. Coriander Oil (Coriandrum sativum)

A potent soothing essential oil for muscles and joints, coriander essential oil is one of the more relaxing warming oils on our list. Its gentle touch eases the body, handling both physical and emotional tension with its warming effect. This warm essential oil would be right at home in a tranquil bedtime body butter to lend a cozy feeling to cold evenings.

6. Ginger Oil (Zingiber officinale)

Ginger oil is a classic warm essential oil! Its fiery presence revs up your energy and inspires courage. If you feel sluggish and unmotivated in the long, cold, dark days of winter, ginger oil can help you stay active and stimulate circulation.

7. Gingergrass Oil (Cymbopogon martinii var. Sofia)

Despite its common name, gingergrass isn’t related to ginger. It’s a spicy, fresh oil distilled from a wild grass in India. Massage tight, shivering muscles with a warm, spasm-calming gingergrass blend, and feel them loosen up.

8. Juniper Berry Oil (Juniperus communis)

Fresh, foresty, and invigorating, juniper berry oil is especially soothing for muscles and joints that ask for extra care in cold weather. Juniper berry oil is safe to use in an ongoing fashion, so keep your juniper berry essential oil blends close by.

9. Marjoram (Sweet) Oil (Origanum majorana)

Sweet marjoram oil has a camphoraceous, herbal scent. It can move your body’s energy in a way that supports your natural detox process. Try a sweet marjoram bath salt when you feel sluggish after a big meal or fun holiday party.

10. Myrrh Oil (Commiphora myrrha)

One of the most skin-friendly warm essential oils, myrrh essential oil gently stirs the body’s energy in a way that’s not too stimulating. It allows you to release stress and find a more nourishing flow of energy. Use myrrh in a relaxing body oil after a long day.
