After lavender essential oil, which we always reach for right away for emotional support, we decided to create a list of some of our favorite, affordable essential oils that are so helpful when looking to promote balance, calm, reassurance, motivation, and a greater sense of self-confidence. Of course, this list is not exhaustive, but it can help point you in the right direction if you are wanting to create beautiful essential oils blends on a budget! In alphabetic order, here are 20 essential oils, all $20 or under, that are so deeply emotionally nourishing and supportive.
1. Balsam Fir Oil - stabilizes, uplifts, and supports during times of emotional transformation. Safety tip: use in a lower dilution topically (5-6 drops per ounce of carrier) as it could cause skin irritation. Kid friendly over the age of 5. Perfect for massage blends, bath salts, inhaler, and diffuser blends.
2. Bergamot Oil - relaxes and restores, particularly during times of situational anxiety or depression. This essential oil is especially calming during moments of anger or frustration and is often used to help usher a restful night's sleep. Safety tip: if applied topically, avoid sun exposure, or tanning beds, for up to 18 hours after use. Kid friendly over the age of 5. Perfect for diffuser and inhaler blends.
3. Cedarwood Atlas Oil - is grounding, strengthens confidence, and empowers, especially during times of change or heightened stress. There are no specific safety precautions for cedarwood atlas essential oil. Kid friendly over the age of 5. Perfect for massage and lotion blends, bath scrubs, inhaler and diffuser blends.
4. Clove Bud Oil - warms and comforts. Spicy in nature, clove bud essential oil promotes greater self-assurance and fosters confidence during challenging times or unexpected transitions. Safety tip: use in a lower dilution topically (5-6 drops per ounce of carrier) as it could cause skin irritation; this essential oil could potentially interact with certain blood thinners. Clove bud essential oil is not recommended for kids under the age of 10. This essential oil is lovely in body butters, room sprays, diffuser and inhaler blends.

8. Ghandi Root Oil - calms and soothes, especially during periods of situational anxiety or depression. This essential oil is often used for spiritual healing or to help facilitate a deeper meditation experience. No known safety concerns. Kid friendly over the age of 5. This essential oil is exquisite in a massage blend as well as in an inhaler or diffuser blend.
9. Gingergrass Oil - refreshes and uplifts, offering increased emotional protection. This essential oil can help reduce mental fatigue and improve overall outlook. Safety tip: occasionally it does cause skin irritation for those with more sensitive skin and should be used at a lower dilution until you feel comfortable increasing the dilution ratio. Kid friendly over the age of 5. Gingergrass essential oil is a lovely choice for a tension headache relief blend, a DIY cleaning blend, massage blend for muscle tension, or inhaler or diffuser blend.
10. Grapefruit Rose Oil - cleanses and uplifts, promoting positive energy especially during times of situational depression. Safety tip: cold pressed grapefruit essential oil is slightly phototoxic and skin irritating and should be limited to a 4% dilution (no more than 24 drops per ounce of carrier) when used topically. Kid friendly over the age of 5. At the appropriate dilution, pink grapefruit essential oil is a lovely choice for shower scrubs, bath salts, hand soaps, and perfume blends.

No known safety concerns. Kid friendly over the age of 5. Larch tamarack essential oil is lovely in a roller bottle blend, inhaler or diffuser blend.
13. Marjoram (Sweet) Oil - comforts and calms especially when one is perseverating or prone to overly obsessive thinking. During moments of intense emotional grief, using sweet marjoram for a short amount of time can help heal and bring comfort during these times of acute emotional distress. No known safety concerns. 20. Ylang Ylang Oil - uplifts and opens the heart, creating a sense of joy. This essential oil can promote sensual awakening and encourage feelings of euphoria. Ylang ylang essential oil is associated with the heart and is deeply emotionally supportive, especially when one is experiencing shock or trauma. This essential oil is a fabulous sleep support.
